Fantastic review. I plotting long and hard about choosing between these. I use
android phones/phablets frequently. I have the note 3 and I always plotting the
stylus would be more useful on a larger device (inbuilt in the note range),
and same for the split screen view. But, after trying them both out a
few era I went for the Air- it feels nicer to hold (and it feels
noticeably lighter); audio had the edge and also due to apps. I’ve already
got an android tablet and I don’t have any particular problem with apps for
android tablets (some people say android apps aren’t ideal for tablets- I
haven’t establish that a real issue). But, whilst many of the apps I need I
can get on android as well as the iPad there are several corporate apps
that I can only get on IOS (and some educational apps). But you can’t go
incorrect with either device (having said that the xperia Z tablet is down to
£335 – and it looks and feels very excellent).
As an aside, there are lots more browsers for the iPad than safari. I’m
using Dolphin (which is my preferred android browser), Though I quite like
Chrome & Mercury browsers. Playing flash on android is getting to be a
problem (as I establish recently). For the iPad there’s the Photon browser for
flash- but I establish I had to resort to Windows devices instead of android or
IOS for certain flash sites (there are still a few, but getting less).

Thanks so much for the in dept review Lisa!

Using a Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 to write this. I’ve had both the iPhone and
iPad but switched over to Android using Samsung. Unless you’ve seen a
rooted Android with customs ROMs or Xposed Modules you can’t even compare
iOS to Android. And jailbreaking iOS doesn’t even get you to an uprooted
Android. For your everyday consumer both are fantastic. For the technical
impaired, Apple is your friend :)

Why does no one but Apple make a decent 4:3 tablet? Dread of lawsuits?

you and UnboxTherapy do the best reviews

Fantastic review, as always by MobileTechReview. The “whose better” debate is
over. Both incredibly capable tablets. It’s basically a matter of which OS
you rather.

As an owner of an iPad Mini w/Retina… I seriously LOVE my device! I’m
really reading books again, watching movies and getting some light work
done.

Apple’s ecosystem, simplicity and design does everything I need it to do
with ZERO “lag” and ZERO “bloatware”. Plus it’s a far more secure platform.

iOS 7.1 made a lots of exceptional improvements and, for me personally, it
was money well spent.

Teamed up with an Otterbox… very sturdy.

Fantastic evaluation video though! Nearly got the iPad Air. Gorgeous tablet
too.

Fantastic review as always. But I am an Android man. Whenever I get on
someone’s ipad I get SOOOOOO frustrated!! The UI is dreadful!

500 $ ?

I’d rather use my nexus 7 2013 or an HTC tablet. HTC, make a tablet.

Fantastic evaluation!

I am looking a tablet that will be used as an eReader for pdf or epub ,
etc. formats that will be used for glossy cookbooks, etc. I have a laptop
but it bothers me that you have to keep it at a distance due to the
keyboard so I have to place my eyeglasses on and besides it’s heavy, and hot
to keep it on your lap or chest when lying down on the couch. What would
be the best choice with an eye on weight and price, and forget BN &
Amazon.!! also forget the 400 usd range. Thank you– like your videos,
you’re my authority on computing devices.

Fantastic review. Thanks guys! Will you be doing a review of the Z1 Compact by
any chance?

Pacomacапреля 4, 2014 at 22:27

I used to delight in watching your videos because they were accurate and
unbiased. The memory on the Samsung is only 16Gb, you can’t use external
memory to store applications. This alone renders the Galaxy useless as you
doubtless have only approx 10Gb free storage for applications. You failed to
mention the iPad Air allows 128Gb of right storage.

I see the appeal of some of the Android tablets.. but for me Apple will
always win hands down regardless of power and alacrity simply because of the
amount of quality apps. Ever app available of AppStore is approved and has
to be of a particular quality as opposed to Android which has a lot of apps
but more than 50% are terrible and done by people with small to no app dev
experience. If buying these for games then Apple is another hands down buy
as the amount of games is far greater. I can know the argument when
it comes to phones but not tablets

Noel Santosапреля 5, 2014 at 0:16

Thanks for the evaluation! I personally have an iPad Air. 32gb with 4G LTE
on AT&T. Connects to the network just as quick as my iPhone 5 (if not
quicker). Far more apps to fiddle with than what android has with the
Samsung and more accessory choices as well.

Thanks for the review Lisa i know people reckon ohh Android is way better
then apple they r promotion them out. But really apple is winning the battle
consumers are pleased with apple and people with android aren’t.I have an
iPhone 4s and IPad Air and my iPad has no lag no frustration a lot of new
customizable features with the iOS 7.1 and I live the apple experience if i
would point out between the two i would I pick the iPad Air I’m saying that
android sucks so I would never recommend android to people because of the
very unreliable software and the crashing.I would say the making a bet crashes a
lot on Android and dosent on apple so I would seriously recommended Apple.

Fantastic Review Ms.Gade

Denny Dапреля 5, 2014 at 3:33

it really is personal preference. if your just the mean user looking for
a tablet that can play games , stream movies, surf the web base the ipad it
fine. but if your crazy for all the newest and greatest features of
android, and attracted in doing a lot more with your tablet. the tab pro
is a lot more productive. Hopes this helps.

laalki80апреля 5, 2014 at 4:33

ziomorphапреля 5, 2014 at 5:29

The Galaxy Tab for people who value functionality and productivity.

The iPad Air for people who value appearance and kids.

Ms_gadgetjunkie27апреля 5, 2014 at 6:23

Have a 2014 Note 10.1 and iPad Air. Best of both worlds! Nice evaluation,
Lisa.
