can you get linux on the toshiba? im looking to get one of those

Kamal9Deuceапреля 4, 2014 at 15:52

I don’t know if its Google or the manufactures of the chromebooks but I
like the thought that they maintain a slim thin chassis for the Chromebooks,
they know its 2014 and no one wants a bulky huge laptop even if its
budget, unfortunately a lot of budget windows laptops are like that.

Dennis Deveauxапреля 4, 2014 at 16:34

The only thing I don’t really like about the Toshiba Chromebook is that
hinge. Otherwise, I honestly reckon it would be a excellent option for me.
Lighter than the HP but still larger than the 11.6″ machines so my eyes
would be pleased

Shayon Palапреля 4, 2014 at 17:28

Even I own the HP 14 Chromebook. Although I wish they would sell the one
with a SIM card slot in India. But then again, I also wish I could afford
the Chromebook Pixel :-p

Nick Sundinапреля 4, 2014 at 17:33

Excellent video, I’m glad I jumped at the hp 14, as the specs of chromebooks
don’t seem to be improving as you said. Plus I like the peach colour!

selmateacher7апреля 4, 2014 at 18:29

Nice Review, Thanks.. I have owned the Acer C7, Acer C720, and the HP 14
with 4G, and I like the HP 14 the best as well.

does chromebooks run League of Legends?

Brian Pachecoапреля 4, 2014 at 19:48

I’ve always been a fan of Toshiba laptops and I’ve owned their Sattelite
series for years. They’re built like tanks. I recently sold my 17″ model
that was bulky but powerful. I like the look of this Toshiba but I’m a tab
junkie. I usually have 7 tabs open at the same time. If I don’t run into
any slowdowns then I’m definetly picking it up!

If I want a quality video experience – YouTube, Netflix, Google Play – what
would you recommend – the HP 11? I admit the HP 11 has the best (IPS)
screen, but I don’t want to try to watch YouTube video reviews etc. and
have to suffer through a lot of stuttering, or have Netflix downgrade the
video to 480p or worse.

I have the Chromebook 7 from Acer and the video is pretty poor, with pretty
poor viewing angles – I can’t avoid polarization on at least one corner no
matter how I try to center my eyes and sit still. Honestly I’ve gotten
disfigured by tablets….

If the HP 11 had this chip, it would be a no brainer, but I saw your video
review with stutter on Google+ and TheVerge – and I DO browse a lot
(although paying bills even as roving is the major classic computer use).

For a non-IPS screen, this Tosh seems the best so far – but more of a
home/lug laptop than the vastly portable HP Chromebook 11 (and I like the
lack of charger – if I use my uUSB tablet charger).

Allan Pattersonапреля 4, 2014 at 20:31

I liked them both, but went with the Toshiba. The HP was my second choice.
Thanks for the review.

Brent Goodaleапреля 4, 2014 at 21:24

Fantastic video. Keep them coming. I reckon you will have a busy year as we
should be getting a new line of chrome books with better everything like
you described. Im personally waiting for samsung update. I hear they are
around the corner (even spotted on (B and H). Looking forward to figure
reviews. Thanks!

Allen McCartyапреля 4, 2014 at 22:02

I’ve had both, reckon the Toshiba has a better screen…

John Smithапреля 4, 2014 at 22:44

Yea, I really don’t know why all these devices, from multiple
manufacturers, are so similar to each additional. Are they somehow making
agreements with each additional, behind the scenes, so that one is clearly not
stuck-up, and therefore they all will get a slice of the pie? Or, is it
Google pulling the strings, and doesn’t want any manufacturer to get
discouraged from promotion chromebooks if their sales are worse than the
additional competitors? I’m seeing the exact same thing with the windows 8
tablets plotting. Same resolution, same prices, same memory, etc.

What curriculum do you use fot making html files?

ItsRambonerапреля 4, 2014 at 23:57

This evaluation was really fantastic for me too choose between those
chromebooks as my school on the go laptop. And the winner for me is the Hp
but not by far :) So tomorrow i will get the Hp chromebook. Thanks alot for
this video and keep up the excellent work!

What is the best chromebook. HP 14. Samsung series 3. Acer C720. Toshiba

Avinash Kumarапреля 5, 2014 at 1:26

Hey Rob,

Thanks for the review and evaluation of both the machines! Could you please
tell me how long is the HP Chromebook 14 lasting on a full charge with only
Chrome OS and how long does it last on a full charge when you’re running
Ubuntu? I need a notebook that lasts at least 7 hours with Ubuntu (I frequently
do web app development) and 8+ hours with Chrome OS.

If you get a chance, kindly answer as soon as possible because I’m waiting
to order one. I was plotting to go for the 13″ Macbook Air (12 hrs
advertised battery life) but came across a thread @Apple that some bug in
Mavericks is causing the MBA batteries to drain insanely quick. If that’s
the case, I’d better buy the HP Chromebook 14 instead of paying 3x more for
the Macbook Air 13″.

Robby Loweапреля 5, 2014 at 1:46

Thanks Robby for the Review it sure helped in making a point out between the
two, thinking more Toshiba than anything, just that screen seems like a
better fit for photo editing, with the pixels

Jordan Hargroveапреля 5, 2014 at 2:19

Would you recommend the HP for a college student? and can I place Microsoft
word on the HP or would that slow the computer down?

ThaEzioAuditoreапреля 5, 2014 at 2:27

Hey Rob ! Fantastic Video, I like my HP chromebook 14 but I really want Google
to push manufacturers to take the chomebook game a step further and improve
the overall specs ! You mentioned web design and coding in the commencement of
the video, what programs do you recommend to do such tasks on a chromebook
? Thanks for your input !

MrDddareапреля 5, 2014 at 3:04

Getting rid of my Toshiba Chromebook when the 13 inch Samsung Chromebook 2
comes out. Or if I might just get the 11 inch if the performance is decent
compared to the 13 inch version or an Intel Celeron processor. Real exited
about the 4 GB of RAM.

Robbin Wiegmanапреля 5, 2014 at 3:57

Like yr in depth reviews and comparisons. Best info on chromebooks on
YouTube! Still waiting for my Acer C720p (vacant for the smaller form
factor). Saw some complaints around the web about the Toshiba build quality
(clicky trackpad issues, some flex to the body) what’s your experience?
