REVIEWER’S NOTE:
AnkerDirect or Anker or Amazon has changed the product on this ASIN to a “2nd Gen” version. Several of the specifications no longer match this review and some additional reviews. I am performing quick diligence to alert readers here and I will point out things that have changed in line below. Please take extra care with this product related to my review as I have not yet had a chance to review the new product directly. I strongly recommend that you check at least a handful of reviews in chronological order (newest reviews first) for some updated insights. Most of the information in this review continues to be significant, which is why the review is left intact. Look for //–Changes–\ to this review based on what I know so far.

Pull out your huge-pockets and don’t expect something light, but plenty of power is in this package.

The Details…

//–According to available information, these connectors no longer come with the product. Anything additional than a Micro USB is now Bring Your Own Cable. This may be inconvenient for some folks who now need to locate a spare cable or carry their primary charging cable with them. At the same time, the mesh bag that I did not find to be useful does not come with it either apparently. I will say that starting here, and until the next marker, most of the information in this section is outdated.–\

This battery comes in a comfortable packaging with excellent directions and a few extras (They gave me a bookmark… A bookmark? Really?). A zip bag contains the various adapter attachments: Apple 30-Pin, USB Mini, USB Micro, and a standard 5V Barrel connector. The additional end of all of these adapter attachments is a smaller-than-normal barrel connector that plugs into the female barrel connector at the end of the jump cable. The additional end of the jump cable is a standard USB A male connector, same as you would plug into a computer. There is also a mesh-bag carrying case.

Sadly, I have to touch on two raze items aptly here:
The construction of the USB jump cable and the adapters is nothing less than shoddy. I had to quickly convert to using a normal cable that came with the phone and tablet over the included jump cable. The USB A side of the power cord has distress maintaining connection with the battery and the adapters have distress maintaining connection with the device. Even as this nice compact cable would be a fantastic boon to many, the poor quality makes it next to useless, with constant wiggling of the connections often needed for it to continue to operate.

There is also a mesh, draw-string carry pouch. This carry pouch is just barely too small for the battery pack to fit in and allow it to accurate and there is no way to easily store the connectors and previously-mentioned faulty jump-charging cable. Then I plotting, “Maybe it’s just meant to hold the adapters and cable!”… But then it’s hugely overkill and the battery pack itself is not included in the carrying. The carry pouch really ends up being more of a hindrance than a convenience.

Even as both of these items are really lesser and overall not worth a star off. Anker may want to consider a better design and quality for the adapters and the bag, for example a carry bag that can securely hold the battery itself with a Velcro flap instead of a drawstring and a lesser pouch for the…

For those readers that are reading this review on the Item page, this review is for the Astro3E 10000mAh charger. In view of the fact that Amazon mixes reviews with all different “variants” of a product, and this comes in multiple capacities, this makes it hard to break reviews.

This product does what it advertises, and does it VERY well. It comes with a nice mesh case which I carry it in constantly, and a nice small twisting USB cord with a few tips. Even as these aren’t compatible with every device I own, I use it mainly to charge my phone, which is MicroUSB and included.

Some devices I have tried charging:
– I own a Motorola Droid 4, and I have charged the phone from dead to full over 4 era on a single charge. Android and Apple ports work, but on the Android port, the Droid 4 really charges FASTER than the stock plug-in charger. My phone does not seem to mind.
– An LG Ally charges on either port, but quicker on the Android port.
– A Nintendo DS Lite (with a compatible USB cord) charges on either port.
– An iPod Nano 6th Generation charges on the Apple port. It does not respond on the Android port. I have charged this device from dead to full, and did lose enough room on the battery for it to register.

I will update this review with more results as I charge more devices. I’m vacant on a few flights in the next couple of months, so this charger will gets LOTS of use.

I bought this item about 8 months ago. for my cell phone. I LOVED it. It would charge my phone 4 or 5 era lacking needing a charge. All of a sudden a month or so ago, it won’t even give me 1 charge. After plugging in the phone and pressing the button, all 4 lights light up, then I get about 25% charge and it’s dead.. push the button, no lights. I just contacted Anker and left comment. I hope they have a solution. If they do, I’ll give it 5 stars.
update 03.02.14: sorry I didn’t update sooner. I emailed Anker and told them about the problem. They emailed me aptly away, questioned for the model# and my address. They sent me another charger and didn’t make me go to the post office and pay to return the ancient one. Then they emailed me a week or so later to make sure I got it and to see if it was working properly. I emailed them back thanking them for their awesome c.s. and told them that it’s working fantastic. I get 2 or 3 charges on my tablet or several on my phone with 1 charge. I not only would do business with Anker again, but I vastly recommend them, their products and their c.s. is 2nd to none.
