Amazon advertises the laptop as the “15.6″ HD QUAD-Core Touchscreen Laptop; the ASUS model as delivered is really the K553MA-DB01TQ model. In view of the fact that nobody else had the opportunity to rate the product and share their experience with its features, I was hoping to be the first with a 5 star review and a wonderful experience after sending it through its paces for a few weeks.

To start off, there is much about this laptop that I like.

PROS – – It has what the advertisements say it has:
1.83 GHz Intel Celeron QUAD Core processor
* 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM
* 500 GB Serial ATA
Touch screen
Windows 8.1

CAVEATS – You get what you pay for in the actual hardware reliability and performance out-of-the box. The laptop I received had an issue with a single key on the keyboard, (the “v” key kept “popping out” of its base if I missed the center of the key in my keystroke – not a excellent sign of quality to me), and ASUS customer help informed me that my only options were to send it back to the seller (Amazon) for a replacement, or send it out to ASUS for repair.

Bottom line recommendation: If you, as the consumer, don’t mind the gamble of being the one who discovers a fresh out-of-the-box issue with the product, and don’t mind the back-and-forth shipments to “get it aptly”, this is the laptop for you! For myself as a consumer, it’s quite a reality check for “let the buyer beware”, so it’s on its way back to Amazon for a refund.

It has everything Asus promised. The touchscreen is really nice. There were no scrapes or dents. The keys are all fine as well. It’s also very light weight and doesn’t get super hot when I’m charging it. The computer also came on time!
The only thing I had problems with was the Skype app, but I guess that’s not Asus’ fault.

Horrible Customer Service. Pray you don’t have problems., September 26, 2014

ASUS has the single worst customer service and warranty curriculum I have ever had to deal with. If you do buy their product, you’d better pray that you don’t have any problems with it, because you won’t get any help from ASUS. In the year that I had one of their laptops, mine broke down 5 era. Every time I sent it into their ‘service’ center, the part they replaced failed again within months, or even weeks. At the end I was so sick of spending hours and hours on the phone with them, paying to have my laptop shipped back time and again for repairs that I gave up. Amazon was fantastic enough to offer me a partial refund for the unit, but ASUS refused to do anything. They also promised call backs from supervisors on at least 3 occasions and I still have never heard back from them.
Please save yourself the horrible headache and loss of data and time. Stick with Toshiba, or really anyone additional than ASUS.
