I have owned this for less than a week but have used it a lot in that time. It is pretty much what you expect. Performance is on par with additional recent iterations the Intel Atom processors (although this one uses an AMD processor). The performance in Win 8.1 is just OK – it will get the job done but will keep you waiting a bit longer than you would like – especially in tasks that require a lot of HDD access. The battery life is aptly around 5 hrs of continuous use. It is small and light, has fantastic connectivity in stipulations of USB ports, ethernet port, HDMI and VGA outputs. Sound output is acceptable. The screen has excellent touch response but poor viewing angles and poor contrast (and is very glare prone). The keyboard is very excellent for the size, the touchpad is responsive and has a excellent texture but is too small to be very effective – I find myself carrying a small wireless logitech mouse to alacrity up my mouse work – I also end up using the touch screen a lot. This apparatus would really subsidy from a bit more RAM and an SSD – upgrades I want to install myself once I find a bit more information about which ones are compatible. I consider this to be well worth the 250 I paid for it – I don’t reckon I would pay much more. BTW – It has a nice compact power adapter – very apple like (lacking the mag safe connection) – this really helps with portability.
UPDATE – after a couple of more weeks with this apparatus I became increasingly frustrated with the slowness of this apparatus – I ordered an SSD to upgrade the hard drive. Mind you I have been opening and modifying computers for 20 + years and the case for this one is very hard to open. So much so that unless you have done it before or have a excellent youtube video showing exactly how to do it you are likely to hurt the apparatus in the process – which is what happened with me – the cable that supplies the screen became smashed and in the process junking the computer. The HDD is a standard 2.5 inch SATA drive. The RAM is soldered on and completely not upgradable. I have modified my rating docking one star for poor upgradability and the fact that the more I used it the more I became frustrated with the poor quality screen (very dim and with poor contrast by today’s values). I suggest you find a different apparatus.
