Nearly perfect. Nearly., September 14, 2014

I bought this tablet to replace my bulky laptop that I’d be carrying for years, in view of the fact that I frequently just needed something light for some coding and writing. In that regard, this tablet is perfect. It’s extremely light, simple to carry, with a huge enough screen to easily see what I’m typing but not too huge as to become cumbersome to hold in one or two hands if I have the keyboard dock detached. Overall, I like this tablet. I’ts been absolutely fantastic for what I need it for, but there are some issues I wish Asus had dealt with prior to me purchasing it.

Pros:
Extremely lightweight
Preinstalled with a FULL version of Office 2013
Quick with a full version of Windows 8.1, not the RT nonsense.
Screen has a excellent range of brightness, excellent for brightly lit classroom or watching Netflix before bed.
Keyboard dock doesn’t add much weight, types reasonably well once you get used to it.
Sound isn’t terrible for the speakers being in the back, headphones are certainly your friend though.
Touch screen is very responsive, very small delay in commands if any.
Wi-Fi works perfectly, able to stream relatively quickly and with few lags or pauses for buffering depending on your connection alacrity.
2GB RAM seems to be plenty, even with Spotify, Chrome, and some coding applications open. Nearly never lags or slows down noticeably.
USB 3.0 port on the keyboard dock is very useful, as is the MicroSD slot on the tablet itself.
Physical Sound, Lock, and Desktop keys function very well, not overly hard to push or reach.
Charges within ~3 hours from nearly dead to full charge with the 2.0 amp adapter provided, can doubtless go quicker with a higher amperage charger. I usually charge it overnight, no huge deal for me.
Battery does last an extremely long time, I can go all day before needing to charge it with some light to moderately heavy usage (coding, Spotify, Chrome, Amazon Instant Video/Netflix, etc.)

Cons:
Touch screen is very responsive, just not always perfectly accurate for trying to do certain file and window operations, like double clicking or dragging certain items.
Mousepad on keyboard dock is somewhat flimsy, I would recommend a Bluetooth mouse for it.
Does come preinstalled with some bloatware, though nothing majorly irritating and can be easily enough removed.
Docking section doesn’t always want to seat correctly when adding to the tablet, can usually fixing by pressing down on whichever side isn’t completely connected or removing tablet and re-docking again.
Dock section feels somewhat loose after a couple months of use, but not majorly so.
With keyboard attached, tablet becomes rather top heavy, prone to tipping over when at an angle completely back.
Small rubber grips on keyboard don’t completely make contact when tablet is completely at an angle, making it somewhat trying to use on slanted, smooth surfaces.
Charging port can seem trying to plug cable into, I usually plug it in at a very slight downward angle, usually makes it simpler to plug in for charging.
Plastic back does feel a small cheap, but doesn’t majorly affect overall build quality of the tablet.

Overall, this is a fantastic tablet for a student that doesn’t need a heavy-duty laptop, but still wants something that’s relatively capable even as still being small and compact. For the price, some compromises will have to be made, but it’s an exceptional value for the price and I would vastly recommend it as a small, compact Windows 8 tablet that can still run many things just as well as a full laptop counterpart.

I bought two of these 64GB Transformers for my kids school work. They are loving them. Place a SanDisk 32GB Ultra Class 10 Micro SDHC in one and 64GB (with the entire GA Henty series) in the additional and they work fantastic. I have plugged in a 32 GB flash drive into the keyboard and it worked fantastic. We charge them overnight every couple days. It did take a small time to get things customized and updated. I suggest plugging in over night when you first get it then letting it update the next day before adding any anti virus like Avast, CCleaner, … so that all the updates go smoothly. This small computer turns on quickly and runs smoothly. We did have a small issue with internet connection at first. But after putting it on manual connect and getting all the updates, we place it back onto auto connect and it is doing fine. For $350 plus a couple accessories like the Micro sd card and a cover this is a very economical and powerful apparatus. I delight in playing on them when the kids are done with them because they are so well-located to take to the couch or wherever.
I especially like being able to open my fingers on the screen and make the words larger. Especially when I am to bone idle to get up and get my readers. Overall I am quite pleased with this small guy.

Perfect for my needs. And I LOVE the red case….., August 25, 2014

This 2-in-1 fit my needs perfectly. It is small in size, yet the screen size is plenty large. The case is fantastic because the red is a sharp looking red, and it does not attract fingerprints. The keyboard is the smallest one I’ve ever used, but it is still large enough for my large hands. It has a USB3 port and volume buttons and microphone port on the case. Long battery life for web browsing. Office Student edition for productivity. Full version of Windows 8.1 (Warning, controversial statement here: After a year of avoiding it on desktops, I’m really starting to like the Win8 metro start screen now).

There are a few apps/utilities that I have on my iphone that I want to see developed as a Windows 8 app. But, this is more of an issue with Microsoft than the tablet. More apps are released every month, so hopefully the ones I’m looking for will be available soon.

For anyone looking for a mouse even as using the T100 as a laptop, I recommend the Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Mouse. It is a full size mouse. It connects via bluetooth, and the Win8 button on the side quickly switches between desktop and the start menu.
